The story behind Drakus Designs
What is Drakus Designs?
Drakus Designs is a graphic & web design company driven by the desire to combine the chaos of art with the order of design to create products that attract attention while communicating something important.
Drakus (short for Drakushraelenthusa) is the name of an ice-breathing, turquoise dragon in a story that we wrote. Drakus was literally the vehicle through which great and terrible things happened. But really, we’re big nerds with a soft spot for the fearsome beasts, and thought the alliteration with the double D was pretty cool.
Why Drakus Designs?
We understand that some projects need to scream loudly while others need to whisper softly. Here at Drakus Designs, we believe that design isn’t just about making things look good – it’s about giving them the personality they deserve.
We value honest communication, integrity in relationships, mutual respect between individuals, and continuous striving for excellence. We are committed to building solid relationships forged on trust. We enjoy what we do, and we want you to enjoy us, too.
Who is Drakus Designs?
Drakus Designs is the brainchild of Jennifer Gross.
Ever since she was 8 years old, Jennifer Gross wanted to be a writer and a drawer (she didn’t know the word “illustrator” back then), and entering the world of multimedia design is just a natural progression of that desire.
After acquiring an associate’s degree in Computer Graphics at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, California, Jennifer got her start in the industry by working for an ad agency/production house that specialized in newspaper advertising. There she proved herself an invaluable member of the team by not only producing ads quickly and accurately herself, but by introducing ways to her fellow teammates to help make them more efficient as well.
The good times were not to last, however, as the Internet started eating up the newspaper industry, and indirectly, it ate Jennifer’s job as well. Undaunted, she returned to school to learn the ways of the Internet so she could be more competitive in the modern marketplace. In 2012, Jennifer earned a bachelor’s degree in Web Design & Interactive Media from the Art Institute of California – Inland Empire. With so many different things to learn, such as video and audio editing, multimedia authoring, web design, and animation, she found it hard to get bored.
Currently, Jennifer “kicks ads” at the direct mail marketing company Best Buys Guide, continuing the legacy of superior ad-building since her journey began at her first “real job,” AdOut, in 1999.
